Thus, they may seem as if they’re having fun, although in truth, their mind and their heart is not really in the partying mood. They are actually doing work to get their story and get the facts for that story, which may entail a huge amount of work. It is not a thing as as easy as asking questions, because journalists need to confirm what they’ve heard and obtain a reliable resource which they may cite. It would be good if they could obtain an interview with the individual that is at the forefront of the issue, but most of the time, this is impossible so they have to find someone close to that person and get a disclosure from them. Writing is not really easy either because you don’t just write what you want and let the readers fill in the blanks. You need to be able to give them a complete set of information without really making it appear that you are. That is what’s so great journalism, giving them the things you think without really informing them or giving them a lot of boring details.

As much as they can, the journalist should be able to convey what they mean in the shortest possible way which is both intriguing as well as understandable. That’s especially true with broadcast news who need to leave it simple since each minute is, after all, precious in airtime.

A career in journalism might appear simple, although like everything else, it is not because as you closely examine it, you’ll understand that it is as much work as being a secretary or being an office assistant. The only deviation is, you have the opportunity to experience different things while performing your work and maybe that’s where the benefit of this industry lies. Of course, to be any kind of journalist, you need to be focused, skillful, passionate and overall great at the job like with every other sort of occupation out there.
